Two more automotive component manufacturers have plans to lay off workers in Kentucky, according to notices filed with the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training.
Various auto suppliers have laid off workers over the past few months as U.S. automobile production declines.
Automotive Glass Co., a division of Japan-based Asahi Glass Co. Ltd., reported to the state that it plans to lay off about 140 workers at a plant in Elizabethtown, Ky.
According to its Web site, the company supplies auto glass to Audi, BMW, General Motors, Hyundai, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Volkswagen, Chrysler, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Ford, Toyota, Smart and Volvo, according to a Feb. 9 Business First report.
