Steve Chen, executive vice president of Flushing, N.Y.-based Crystal Window & Door Systems, recently received the honor of a “Rising Star” of Queens. Theaward is given to leaders under 40 who are making an impact in the business world of the city’s second most populous borough. Last year, in 2008 the 1,200-member Queens Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of Queens’ Top 10 Business Executives Under 40 and Glass Magazine named him one of its annual “20 Under 40” top glass industry young executives nationwide.
Chen is the son of Crystal founder and president Thomas Chen. He joined Crystal in 2003 after working in the finance and investment field. He is responsible for marketing strategy and daily operations and oversees the company’s Missouri-based aluminum extrusion subsidiary. He is spearheading the new “green” corporate environmental initiatives of Crystal, according to a release.
