The infrared ray in sunlight causes the rising temperature indoor, and ultraviolet speeds up the color fading of cotton fabric and the ageing of plastics. Therefore, heat-absorbing glass has been developed to meet the demand for a glass of good light transmittance and heat absorption.
According to Dou Xueqiang, an engineer of Huanbohai Building Material Center, visible light transmittance of glass shall be not less than 70% in accordance with the general provisions of the world. It is easy to absorb ultraviolet, but to add the content of iron oxide in glass must impact the transmittance and appearance. Then, researchers find that ferrous iron ion is more functional in absorbing infrared ray than ferric iron ion. With well-controlled glass processes and a little increasing of the content of iron oxide, super heat absorbing glass comes true by adding the proportion of ferrous iron ion.
