Chongqing city will launch the energy-conserving standard of 65% next year in main urban area. According to Construction Committee and Building Energy Conservation Association, the “Regulations on Building Energy Conservation” will be formally released at the end of this year and take effect. The standard of building energy conservation in Chongqing rises from 50% to 60%.

Thereafter, all energy saving projects shall reach the standard of over 65%. At present, more than 95% of buildings have not come up to the standard. However, new completed construction projects will not approved or some be fined, if not reaching the standard.

The use of glass curtain wall will be restricted. The extensive glass curtain walls, once led the tide of urban building styles, now has been definitely restricted in Chongqing City. Light pollution caused by glass curtain wall is more likely to get shortsighted and have cataract. Besides, glass curtain wall is not energy saving, but also not heat insulating, which leads to the massive loss of energy.
