Leading double glazing installer Sheffield Window Centre is heading for further expansion after acquiring glass manufacturer Central Glass. Broad Lane-based Sheffield Window Centre’s Ian and Joe Hunter have taken over as directors of Central Glass, based in nearby Well Meadow Street, following the retirement of former owner Graham Warsop.

Ian Hunter said: “We are delighted to be involved in Central Glass.

We have been working with them for a number of years and feel that they produce the highest quality glass in Sheffield.

Expanding into glass production was an obvious progression for us.”

Sheffield Window Centre was established in 1975 and makes uPVC windows, doors and conservatory products.

The company has been owned by the Hunter family since the 1980s when the Hunters used the firm to install a conservatory and a new porch and were so delighted with the results they decided to buy it.

Central Glass was founded in 1996 and specialises in making and installing energy-efficient double glazing in Sheffield and the surrounding areas.

Sheffield Window Centre is retaining all of Central Glass’s employees and its BSI Kitemark and plans to focus on product development and boosting the business by stepping up its marketing.
