Department of Workplace Standards Commissioner Anthony Russell of the Kentucky Labor Cabinet today joined local and company officials at AGC Automotive America’s Elizabethtown facility to honor employees with the Governor’s Safety and Health Award.

The plant’s 604 employees have worked 2,872,182 hours without a lost-time accident or illness.

Labor Cabinet Secretary Larry L. Roberts congratulated the company’s employees.

AGC Automotive has elevated its own high level of dedication to safety with nearly three million hours without a lost-time incident,” said Roberts. “This is an outstanding achievement, and it’s something every person involved in the company should be proud to have accomplished.”

With previous awards in 2000 and 2013, this is the third such honor for AGC Automotive.

No production without the assurance of safety is the fundamental basis of our business activity,” said Plant Manager Scott Guenther. “Our 600-plus associates are committed to the safe and successful operation of the Elizabethtown Plant. AGC is focused on eliminating all serious injuries or illnesses to ensure that all of our associates return home in the same good condition as when they arrived for work.”

The Elizabethtown plant is one of four AGC Automotive Americas’ facilities in North America. A business unit of AGC Glass Company North America, the company mainly produces and sells automotive glass for new vehicles and aftermarket replacement glass.

AGC Automotive is a leading supplier to customers all around the world, including such top brand names as Ford, General Motors, Toyota, Mercedes, Honda and more.

The Kentucky Labor Cabinet presents the Governor’s Safety and Health Award in recognition of outstanding safety and health performance. An establishment may qualify for the award if its employees together achieve a required number of hours worked without experiencing a lost-time injury or illness. The required number of hours is dependent upon the number of employees. In the case of AGC Automotive, the requirement is one million hours.

Every establishment within the geographical boundaries of Kentucky is eligible, even if the establishment won the award the previous year. Eligibility is limited to one award during a 12-month period of time.
