Alstone, is the largest manufacturer of Aluminium Composite Panels in India with four advanced and ultra-modern ACP production units. Alstone has established itself as one of the most preferred brands and spreads its network throughout India. It has a pan India presence with dealers, distributors and offices cum warehouses across the country. The beginning of this flourishing enterprise was in the year 2004 with the motto to attain perfection was well supported by an ultramodern production line which was located near Dehradun (Uttarakhand) in India and managed by a team of industry’s best professionals. Operations were started with Alstone Classic, which offered an exquisite range of panels that went ahead to become a benchmark in Aluminium Composite Panels. The launch of Alstone Platinum and Alstone Evolution soon followed with each range entirely different from other on the whole. Scaling the growth ladder What made Alstone stand out from the rest was the disciplined colour uniformity, easy maintenance, advanced flatness, high impact resistance and the fact that it is robust yet light weight.
Under this flagship of the renowned ‘Alstone Group’ comes M/s Emerging Glass India Pvt. Ltd. Recently, it has commenced the set-up of their newest hi-tech sheet glass and a figured glass plant atBehror in Rajasthan. The company will manufacture sheet glass, figured glass and mirrors here.
The company has revealed that the 25 acre facility would have a production capacity of 210 Tonnes of sheet and 130 Tonnes of figured glass per day with an estimated investment of between Rs.225 to 250 Crore. But that’s not all, the company has also opted for upgraded “Colburn Technical Process” which will enable them to produce ultrathin sheet glass as thin as 1mm and higher thinness (the only glass plant in India capable of doing so), along with a world class quality of other thickness sheet glasses.
The ultrathin sheet glass is used primarily for surgical slide in Microscopes. Traditionally, sheet glass of 2mm to 12mm thickness is manufactured, but ‘Emerging Glass India Pvt. Ltd.’ with its revolutionary process and heavy investments on superior machinery will equip the plant to manufacture ultrathin sheet glass. A move everyone’s termed “bold”, as ultrathin sheet glass is manufacturedonly in a handful of countries in the world. This explains the huge demand for ultrathin sheet glass everywhere. According to Mr. Dharmendra Kumar, the Channel Sales DGM of the company, there is robust demand of ultrathin glass in the Indian sub-continent. This product has heavy demand in the United States and Europe primarily because of the gigantic and growing medical research and forensic study sector. There is also a vast scope for exporting to various neighbouring counties likes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, South Africa etc.
It is a well-known phenomenon that flat glass is manufactured through 4 technical processes all around the world- Fourcoult, PPG, Colburn and Float Technique. Among all these processes, the ‘Float Technique’ is the most popular method as the flat glass produced by this process is of outstanding quality and fuel efficient. The sheet glass plants in the industry have been upgraded from fourcoult, PPG and Colburn to ‘Float Technical Process’. Even though fine quality of glass of 2 to 25mm thickness are manufactured by using this process. It is not advisable to manufacture ultrathin glasses of 1 and 1.5mm thickness by this process because the width of float glass lines ribbon is between 3 meters or more which can cause 60-70% breakage to the thinner glass which is almost as thin as paper resulting in an increase in the production cost. However, the cost of manufacturing ultrathin glass from ‘Emerging Glass India Pvt. Ltd’ will be less as the breakage would be significantly lower, owing to the ‘Colburn TechnicalProcess’. Although this plant will manufacture sheet glass of all thicknesses, it shall predominantly focus on ultrathin sheet glass. This plant is going to be one of the most energy competent facilities making it economical, resourceful and optimized; all because of its hi-tech manufacturing process. Being the only plant to manufacture this unique type of glass gives them a monopoly which means there is no competition what so ever in this specific ultrathin sheet glass segment. The company recently signed a contract with world renowned glass equipment manufacturer “CTIEC” in December 2013.
The figured glass plant is also going to be really sophisticated and hi-tech. Figured glass, also known as patterned glass, rolled glass & obscure glass is flat glass whose surfaces display a regular pattern. It is most commonly used in interior decoration and internal architecture. It will produce glass of all thicknesses ranging from 3mm to 10mm. What’s worth noting is the fact that it’s the only plant in Northern India which manufactures figured glass which can be easily be toughened and used in various application like showers, cubicles and table tops.
The company offers a wide range of products for every need, keeping in mind the dynamic nature of the business environment. The company also caters to modified needs from customized sizes, thickness and packing to even processing small size.
