With hundreds of thousands of students receiving their A Level and GSCE results this month, National Windscreens is reminding school leavers of the value of NVQ qualifications when considering career choices.
As operator of the UK’s largest automotive glass fitting centre network, and employer to over 800 mobile glazing technicians, National Windscreens is committed to the continued professional development of all of its technicians to secure the highest possible standards of automotive glazing repair and replacement at all times. In realising this objective, National Windscreens supports all of its technicians in completing the GQA Qualifications Level 2 and Level 3 NVQ diploma in Automotive Glazing. This consists of both written and practical elements – such as health and safety within the automotive glazing working environment, understanding automotive glazing products, establishing customer requirements and repairing damaged windscreen glass.
Regional Operations Director, Mark Payne, comments, “As a benchmark of competence on a national scale, the NVQ qualification ensures all team members are highly qualified in using the latest skills and knowledge in automotive glazing. “This ongoing commitment has resulted in the continued delivery of market leading performance for getting things ‘right first time’, a powerful argument in supporting the development of all technicians.” As part of its commitment to continued training and development, National Windscreens also issues ‘top up training’ twice a year to technicians that have achieved the Level 2 or Level 3 NVQ Diploma, to ensure all skills and knowledge are maintained and any problem areas are addressed.
Mark continues, “The fact that all of our technicians are qualified to at least NVQ Level 2 means we are able to offer a consistent level of quality for all of the repair and replacement jobs we carry out - benefitting our customers on a national scale.” Recognised as an award winning organisation for specialist sectors and occupational roles, GQA Qualifications offers NVQ diplomas for the glazing, construction, printing and coating sectors - offering young people alternative career options through qualifications that are widely recognised as industry standard. Mark finishes, “Here at National Windscreens we are constantly on the lookout for trainee glazing technicians with a strong desire to learn and the ability to help us continue to set new benchmarks for quality.”
