German glass industry grows

According to the German Federal Association of the glass industry Bundesverband Glasindustrie, industry for the production of glass is on the rise. Turnovers industry for the period from January to August 2014 show an upward trend in all segments.

Total turnover glass industry rose by 2.9% compared with the same period of the previous year and amounted to 6.08 billion euros. The highest growth was recorded in the segment of manufacture of flat glass - 7% (697 million euros). Turnover in the production of hollow glass products increased by 2.7% to 1.6 billion euros. In the segment of fiber growth was 2.2% (361 million euros) in the special glass sector recorded an increase in turnover of 2.1% (885 million euros). Employment in the industry as a whole is stagnant, increasing by 0.2% and amounted to approximately 54,000 people.

Federal Industrial Association Bundesverband Glasindustrie e. V. is the economic and political interests of manufacturers of glass in Germany. By industry includes the production of flat glass, container glass, specialty glass, and finishing and decorating glass. The industry employs around 400 companies, employing approximately 54,000 people. The total turnover of the German glass industry in 2013 amounted to 8.9 billion euros.
