Glasstec 2014: Interest in A+W software remains strong - This year was not an easy one for the international glass industry. Therefore, everyone at A+W was especially curious about glasstec: how is the mood in the industry? Looking back, the trade show team is enthusiastic: a nearly constantly heavily-visited trade show booth is a clear signal of positive market developments. The visitors were an international group. Noteworthy was that many visitors came from Latin America, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. The A+W-Team had all hands on deck to present the company's exciting new developments.
Especially in demand: solutions that save material, time, and work, whether through new, intelligent cutting algorithms or process improvements in office and production. As expected, the software demos for the comprehensive solution A+W Business Pro were well-received by smaller and medium-sized companies. Many visitors were just as excited about the A+W Defect Optimizer, which optimizes nearly all flaws in stock plates in real time, for this saves users a lot of material and time. And many visitors were curious about the sneak preview of the new, Web-based product configurator - and they were not disappointed.
"Around the world," according to Peter Dixen, the new A+W CEO, "the glass industry relies on intelligent, comprehensive software solutions to improve its processes. We are especially pleased about the lively and continuing interest from Latin America, but also from other developing markets. The mood among the European visitors was good to very good."
Continuing also is the trend toward mobility in software. Tablet-capable solutions are well-received and are gradually changing the way things work in production. An example is A+W Dashboard: current machine states and possible bottlenecks are identified quickly in real time and with a high information density. An easy-to-operate HTML configurator allows the production manager to define individual views. The system can be used on desktop computers or on the go on tablet PCs or smartphones.
Peter Dixen: "We are more than satisfied. In the trade show booth we were able to do some good business and start a few promising projects on their way."
