Glass and mirrors are staples in every home. For a modern home, especially, glass and mirrors are oft-favored materials (see: glass doors, walls, skylights, and floor-to-ceiling windows). But when these materials gather dirt and dust, its obvious right off the bat: a smudge, for instance; even dust motes are visible on these surfaces, especially under a certain light.
The good news is that glass and mirrors are superbly easy to clean. Simply prepare the materials listed below and follow the procedure as instructed.
Materials:
- white vinegar
- water
- a large bowl or a spray bottle
- a sponge or a clean, lint-free or microfiber cloth, to use as a rag
- an old cotton cloth or newspaper, to use as a buffer
- cotton swabs or a soft toothbrush
Procedure:
- Mix four parts of water to one part of white vinegar in the large bowl. As another option, you can also make the solution in the spray bottle to apply it directly on the glass or mirror surface.
- Dip your cleaning cloth or sponge into the mixture in the bowl, or spray the surface with the mixture. Wipe with the cloth or sponge in a circular motion to get rid of dirt, dust, smudges, and other spots. Then, wipe vertically, and then horizontally, to leave no mark behind. Wiping with these techniques should keep the surface smooth and clean.
- Clean the corners with the same solution using cotton swabs or a soft toothbrush.
- Buff the surface with a dry cotton cloth or a crumpled newspaper.
