Donna Collins, executive director of the Ohio Arts Council, and three staff of the Columbus-based council, invite the public to a 1:30 to 3 p.m. meeting Thursday in the Glass Pavilion of the Toledo Museum of Art. The council distributes grant money — nearly $21 million will go to arts groups and individuals in the 2014-2015 biennial year.
Northwest Ohio does not have a citizen representative, appointed by the governor, on its 15-member board, which has three vacancies. State Rep. Teresa Fedor (D., Toledo) is one of four elected officials appointed to the board.
The last time an arts council director met with the public in Toledo was in 2008. Ms. Collins will be in town for Thursday’s release of the Toledo Strategic Plan for Arts and Culture, the city Arts Commission’s new blueprint for local arts.
A community celebration to kick off the plan and to close Artomatic 419! will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday in One Lake Erie Center, 600 Jefferson Ave.
