Melvin Rolling takes on responsibility for Fleet at Autoglass®

Melvin Rolling has been appointed to the newly created role of Head of UK Facilities. The new role brings together a number of functions – Fleet, Property and Health and Safety which will serve both Autoglass® and sister business, AutoRestore®.  

Melvin has over thirty years of experience working within the Belron® family. He joined Autoglass® in 1982 as a trainee windscreen technician and has since held numerous operational roles including Branch, Network, and Regional Manager at Autoglass®.

More recently Melvin helped build the AutoRestore® business and held the role of Technical Director in which he was responsible for technical, training, fleet, property and Health and Safety management. 

As part of his new role, Melvin is committed to a number of initiatives that will help evolve the business’ fleet function. Vehicle solutions that aid further carbon footprint reduction will be a priority as well as overseeing the continued investment in the mobile ‘all-weather’ solution that allows technicians from Autoglass® to carry out repairs and replacements anywhere and in any weather.

Commenting on his appointment, Melvin said:

“I’m thrilled about returning to Autoglass® and taking on this challenging new role. Autoglass® have a long history of pioneering new innovations in the Vehicle Glass Repair and Replacement industry, just look at last year’s wet weather solution roll-out, the Vanbrella®. In 2015, assisting with the new fully mobile operating model is really exciting as it’s a real positive – I’ve seen it first hand in my previous role and will be able to bring that experience to the table. In particular, I am excited about continuing to use state-of-the-art telematics solutions to improve driver skills and reduce vehicle downtime. Overall, I am looking forward to using my knowledge and skills to help deliver the highest level of service to our customers.”

Melvin’s appointment follows from the retirement of Ged Raymond, Autoglass® Fleet Manager and the upcoming retirement of Martyn Pearson, Autoglass® Property Manager; he will be working closely with both in the transition phase.  Melvin will report into Paul Lewis, Finance Director.
