PPG Industries, Inc. PPG recently launched an expanded glass sample kit for interior designers, featuring a broad range of clear, proprietary low-iron, painted and acid-etched products. These products can be used on partitions, doors, balustrades, bath and shower enclosures, backsplashes, and other interior applications.
The glass sample kit consists of 20 4-by-6-inch decorative glass tiles made by PPG Industries and its alliance partners, Walker Textures products and ICD High Performance Coatings. The sample glasses also include two extra-heavy panels of Clarvista shower glass on conventional clear and Starphire Ultra-Clear glasses.
Clarvista glass has a protective coating fused to the glass surface which prevents dullness and haze resulting from exposure to heat, humidity, soap and cleaning chemicals. Additionally, the glass, if treated with proper care, can make bath and shower enclosures appear new for longer compared to other glass products.
Further, the kit features some colored glass options, ranging from dark-gray Graylite II glass, which is commonly used for privacy glass applications, to the lightly and deeply saturated blue. It also contains green, bronze and gray tones captured in Atlantica, Azuria, Pacifica, Solarblue, Solarbronze and Solargray glasses.
Moreover, the glass kit features two metallic-coated and three brightly colored glass samples from ICD High Performance Coatings.
According to Pat Kelly, Starphire glass manager, PPG Flat Glass, the new interior glass sample kit which substitutes the existing Starphire glass sample kit, was created to highlight the scope of decorative options for consumers.
PPG Industries reported higher profits in the third quarter of 2015, backed by the contributions of the Comex acquisition and aggressive cost-management actions. Revenues from the Glass segment declined 2% to $278 million in the reported quarter as improved pricing was more than offset by currency headwinds. Sales volumes for fiber glass were up by a low single-digit percentage year over year, supported by growing North American demand.
Shares of PPG Industries dipped roughly 1.2% to close at $101.73 on Nov 9.
PPG Industries currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
Better-ranked companies in the diversified chemical space include Celanese Corporation CE, Innospec Inc. IOSP and Akzo Nobel N.V. AKZOY. While Celanese and Innospec sport a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), Akzo Nobel carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
