Featuring the NanaWall SL60 Thermally Broken Aluminum Framed Folding System, California Polytechnic State University's project “INhouse” placed third overall during the 2015 U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon, while also placing second in the Market Appeal and Home Life categories. “NexusHaus” from University of Texas and the Technische Universita?t Mu?nchen notably placed fourth overall, third in the Engineering category, and tied for first in Energy Balance. “Alf House” by State University of New York at Alfred College of Technology and Alfred University placed 11th overall, while being awarded third place in the Affordability and Comfort Zone categories.

Each home incorporated NanaWall SL60 opening glass wall systems in order to maximize the homes’ connection to the outdoors while achieving energy efficiency, durability and high structural ratings. “NexusHaus” and "Alf House" both used double glazed low-emissivity insulated tempered argon filled with a warm edge spacer, and “INhouse” used triple glazed low-E tempered glass.

Our architecture team was familiar with NanaWall's products and decided that it would be the best way to connect our home to the outdoors,” said Solar Cal Poly Co-Project Manager Alyssa Parr. “We chose NanaWall Systems because we needed a product that was able to take full advantage of our ceiling height by extending from floor to ceiling and could be fully opened with ease to connect our interior with our expansive exterior space, doubling the overall size and feel of the home,” said NexusHaus Communications Co-Captain Kelsey Kaiser.

NanaWall Systems is pleased to support collegiate teams in the Solar Decathlon, providing clean-energy and beautiful aesthetics through cutting-edge building technology and engineered solutions,” said NanaWall Systems CEO Ebrahim Nana. “We are proud to be a part of the teams’ award-winning projects.”
