Bielefeld. At the end of February 2016, Schüco International KG received two of the renowned Gold iF Design Awards. The winners were the innovative and aesthetically outstanding Schüco Parametric System and Schüco FWS 60 CV façade systems. The internationally-recognised iF Design Award has been presented since 1960. This year there were over 5000 entries. 75 of these received the highest accolade from the top-class international jury.

Schüco Parametric System
Schüco Parametric System
Experts praised the three-dimensional free-form Schüco Parametric System façade solution in particular for its uncompromising implementation. "The system offers the utmost flexibility and innovative ideas when designing glazed façades. The state-of-the-art façade system impresses with outstanding material quality, the greatest precision and high-quality fabrication in each individual detail."
The Schüco Parametric System, which was developed together with the research platform FAT LAB in Stuttgart founded by Professor Andreas Fuchs, enables three-dimensional free-form façades to be constructed. In the process, the entire value added chain is digitalised, from the initial design and detailed planning to implementation in production and on the building site. This is based on a library of "intelligent" façade modules which are available as plug-ins for CAD programs and are continually being further developed. All units can be combined as desired and designed parametrically as early as the planning stage. The Initial Type Testing for the technical feasibility is carried out in parallel with this so that architects are always able to develop their creativity with planning security.
Winner of the iF Gold Award 2016:
Schüco FWS 60 CV
Schüco Façade FWS 60 CV
The jury of experts was unanimous in awarding Gold for the second Schüco prize. "With this system solution, aesthetics and technology merge in perfect symbiosis. The high level of transparency in this system for floor-to-ceiling window glazing is utterly spectacular. Thanks to the reduction of the frame profile, the glazing and window vent create a uniform look that enriches any architecture. This is a complex yet extremely successful contribution that has won over the entire jury."
The Schüco Façade FWS 60 CV is a new, slimline generation of ribbon windows with optimised sound reduction and thermal insulation. The visual fusion of vent and load-bearing structure creates an aesthetic for traditional floor-to-ceiling ribbon windows and punched openings that has never been seen before. This is because the fixed lights and opening units are no longer distinguishable from the outside – and this is with a face width of just 60 mm. Fabricators also profit from a range of improvements, particularly in terms of convenience during fabrication and installation as well as the fittings which are based on the Schüco SimplySmart modular system and use a large number of identical parts. Furthermore, there is a complete system for attachment to the building structure which optimises thermal insulation and drainage.
