Glass Polishing Ways

(China Glass Network) Glass polishing refers to removing stringy, scratch, and other flaws on glass surface in a chemical or physical way to strengthen the transparency, refractivity of glass. This is what we call “To make the glass be more glass”.

Way 1: Fire polishing

We use flame to soften the glass surface and the impact posed by the fire on the glass surface to deal with some bank mark. But the flatness of glass surface will be weakened after the surface is softened. Polishing of some hollow ware glass being cut can adopt this kind of way.

Applicable glass materials: sodium and calcium glass, silicon

Side-effect: It is easy to blast.

Way 2: Polishing powder polishing

Removing scratches and snags on glass surface through the high-speed friction posed by polishing powder on the surface of glass can strengthen the glass transmissivity and reflectivity furthest. The polishing part needed belt sanding before polishing. Pure surface should use emery milestone more than 400 to polish. This kind of polishing way can adopt many tools and materials, but wool added with cerium oxide (usually called as rare earth powder) is the best of them. Applicable glass materials: most glass products

Side-effect: The polishing process is slow.

Way 3: Acid polishing

The surface of glass also needs belt sanding before the acid polishing, because acid polishing can reduce the thickness of glass to a great extent. But such polishing way can not thoroughly remove the stringy on glass surface. Ingredients should be different according to different glass materials. It is a dangerous way actually, so it is only suggested to professional operators or companies who possess with full facilities.

Applicable glass materials: Every kind of glass (Polishing effect depends on the glass material itself)

Side-effect: The smoothness is not easy to control and it has some impact on the glass edges.
