Fuyao Glass America Celebrates Grand Opening of World's Largest Automotive Glass Facility

New Ohio Glass Fabrication Plant Will Supply 25 Percent of North American New Car Market

DAYTON, Ohio, Oct. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Fuyao Glass America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fuyao Glass Industry Group, the world's leading manufacturing company specializing in automotive glass, today is celebrating the grand opening of its newest U.S. facility in Moraine, Ohio.

Upon completion, the 116-acre facility, which is housed in General Motors' former assembly plant, will be the largest glass fabrication plant in the world with the capacity to produce four million automotive car sets and four million automotive replacement glass windshields each year. Currently employing 2,000, Fuyao expects this number to grow to 2,300 – 2,500 by the end of 2017 to meet growing customer demand.

The new Moraine facility represents $450 million in total investment by Fuyao, the largest Chinese investment inOhio history and eighth largest direct foreign investment in the U.S. over the last decade. Bringing auto glass production back to the U.S., Fuyao aims to regenerate both the local Ohio community, with $25 million to $30 millionfunneled into the economy each month, and the broader automotive industry.

More than 700 industry stakeholders will attend the grand opening event in Moraine, with Fuyao hosting influential leaders from the automotive and government sectors including U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown, U.S. CongressmanMichael Turner and Lieutenant Governor of Ohio, Mary Taylor.

Following the ceremony, Fuyao will host a panel discussion at the University of Dayton's River Campus featuringSamuel Palmisano, former chairman of IBM and current chairman of The Center for Global Enterprise, Eric Spina, the president of the University of Dayton, and Wang Huiyao, founder and president of the Center for China and Globalization, among others.
