Bendheim is pleased to announce its Houdini™ channel glass is a winner in the prestigious Architectural Record Product of the Year competition.

Houdini channel glass displays an exceptionally fine micro-fluted surface. The pattern reduces glare and obscures the shapes of people and objects behind it to such an extent, they seem to disappear.

Whether used for interiors or exteriors, this unique feature allows architects and designers to deliver the highest levels of privacy, while still allowing maximum daylight.

The unique geometry of the U-shaped Houdini channel glass allows for virtually seamless glass walls, uninterrupted by metal frames.

Installed vertically, the glass can span heights up to 23 feet and virtually limitless lengths, a distinct advantage over traditional flat glass. It can also create sweeping curved walls without the need for high-cost custom glass bending.

Started in 2006, Architectural Record’s product competition recognizes excellence in design and utility across a wide variety of architectural products in eight categories.

“The Architectural Record Products of the Year awards represent the best of the best, with the winning items demonstrating high levels of innovation, usefulness, and aesthetics,” says Julie Taraska, products editor of Architectural Record.

“Winners are chosen by a jury of practitioners and specifiers—folks who are active in the architecture and design industries and know products inside-out because they use them every day.”

“We are proud of the work that has gone into creating Houdini channel glass and bringing it to market. It is an honor to be recognized by this jury of leading industry professionals,” said Robert Jayson, Bendheim President.

“We are continually pushing ourselves to develop new, advanced glass types in our ongoing efforts to aid the architectural and design community.”

Houdini channel glass’ win follows on Bendheim’s accolades for its Oberon Etched Glass, which won the Finishes & Surfacing category in 2015.

As a valuable partner, Bendheim’s team brings decades of specialty architectural glass experience to building and design professionals throughout the design process, from concept to completion.
