MVRDV are delighted to announce Crystal Houses as the popular choice award winner at the Amsterdam Architecture Prize 2017.
MVRDV put a unique twist to a classic brick facade by making it almost entirely of glass. The judges agreed that the innovation of this project, together with its collaboration with TU Delft is an implementation of experimental techniques in design.
The public jury also commented on the projet's bold ideas, which in practice produce stunning results as visitors and tourists stop by the building continually emphasising that it is a technical tour de force and a real eye-catcher for the P.C. Hooftstraat.
In the opinion of the public jury, Crystal Houses receives a crystal Amsterdam Architecture Prize for the collaboration of MVRDV, Watering Mans & Van Dijk and principal, Warenar CV.
