GLASSOLUTIONS strikes gold with prestigious construction industry award

GLASSOLUTIONS has emerged victorious in the Residential category at the prestigious Schueco Excellence Awards for Design and Innovation for its role in the creation of the Tapestry Building in conjunction with Niall McLaughlin Architects.

Built across 400,000sq ft, the 15-storey Tapestry Building is Niall McLaughlin Architects’ largest project to date. It forms part of a community-focused development located in King’s Cross which incorporates over 1,900 new homes as well as cafes, restaurants, offices and a new university campus facility.

Energy efficiency and sustainability were primary considerations for the project, as and GLASSOLUTIONS was commissioned to design and install the entire building envelope, comprising the glazing, SFS external wall build up and metal cladding and interface control.

GLASSOLUTIONS worked through a series of complex issues in close collaboration with Schueco, the architect and the client which enabled the development of a façade solution that balanced architectural intent, building performance and the client’s specific requirements.

Run in association with RIBA Journal, the Schueco Excellence Awards celebrate the best in design and collaboration recognising the work of architects, specialist contractors and fabricators in developing and realising Schueco façades, windows and door systems to deliver excellent buildings.

The winners were announced at the prestigious Schueco Excellence Awards lunch, which took place on 22nd June at The Leadenhall Building in Central London.
