Mace has completed Vauxhall Sky Gardens for Frasers Property. Located at 155 Wandsworth Road in London, the project compromises a mix of commercial and residential space, including a single storey podium, an eight storey block and a 36 storey tower block.

Vauxhall Sky Gardens consists of 194 private, six shared ownership, two penthouses and 35 affordable apartments, with seven floors of commercial office space within the tower providing over 4,000 square metres of office space.

The tower is linked by a two storey public realm indoor area, with the buildings offering the highest plot ratio of any residential building in London through the incorporation of 'Sky Gardens'. The gardens offer over 22,000 square foot of outdoor space and the internal residential layout maximizes views to the north and west of London.

Designed by award winning architects Careyjones Chapmantolcher with interiors by YOO Design, the tower has been built by Mace, who worked as the lead contractor on the project. The scheme is being built by Frasers Property, and two development partners, Caddick Developments and YOO Capital.

The development is based around the concept of ‘Sky Gardens’, which provide residents in both buildings with ‘floating’ green spaces. Gillespies, the team behind 20 Fenchurch Street’s Sky Gardens, has designed the gardens for all year round usage, with temperature and humidity controlled to ensure maximum enjoyment.

The project team has worked very closely with the local community, especially Wyvil Primary School. The close relationship saw school children playing in a band at the project’s topping out event with equipment donated to the school by a fund raising event held by the project team.

Vauxhall Sky Gardens has been designed with key sustainability features including low energy services and renewable energy generation, and the residential units meet the requirements for Sustainable Homes Level 3.

All apartments within the tower have their own internal winter garden and benefit from the use of the communal sky and roof gardens, to deliver year round amenity space for residents.

Simon Lear, Chief Executive at Frasers Property UK, said:

“Sky Gardens in Vauxhall is one of the first sites to be developed in the Nine Elms regeneration area. There is a real energy in this part of town and the team is delighted that Mace has now completed the tower. All the private sale apartments are already forward sold & the project has been a major success. The tower - now complete - provides residents with two sky gardens overlooking Westminster and Chelsea, a 24-hour concierge service and a state of the art communal gym overlooking the communal gardens.”

Ian Wylie, Director at Mace, said:

“We are very proud to announce that Mace has achieved practical completion at the Vauxhall Sky Gardens development. It’s been a tremendous project to work on and we’ve developed a very close and trusted relationship with all stakeholders including our client Frasers Property, our supply chain and the local community. We hope that the residents and businesses who take occupation enjoy what is a fantastic development.”

Johnny Caddick, Chief Executive of Caddick Developments, said:

“Caddick is proud to have been part of such an innovative development, the team and I are thrilled with how we’ve been able to bring a Sky Gardens concept to life in such an urban environment. It’s been an exciting project to work on, especially given its sustainability credentials, so we’re really looking forward to seeing it being used to its full potential.”
