Bangkok Glass (BG), one of the Asian top players in container glass manufacturing, relies on Grenzebach technology for their new float glass line.
Big opening for the first BG float glass line in Kabinburi, Thailand under the name of BG Float Glass Co. Ltd. or BGF: Invited guests from politics, industry and public authorities as well as customers, suppliers and employees celebrated the official commissioning of the equipment which produces 600 tons of glass per day with thicknesses ranging from 2 - 15 mm.
The entire Cold End is supplied by Grenzebach including cutting equipment, paper applying machines, stacking units and the equipment control system.
"From placing the order to start-up it only took 14 months. For Grenzebach this was a special project considering the dimension and relatively short time frame. The cooperation with BG was very enjoyable", says Edwin Lang, Sales Manager Glass at Grenzebach.
What all artists can do using glass could be admired by everybody when Edwin Lang presented a gift to Supasin Leelarit, Managing Director of BG Float Glass Co. Ltd.: a dimeter by Bernd Weyland representing the dynamic of glass and the interaction of material and light.
From art to cuisine: For the 250 guests the opening ceremony in Kabinburi not only included a factory tour, but a large buffet accompanied by beverages from the Boon Rawd Brewery Ltd., the oldest brewery in Thailand and main shareholder of BG.
The beverage industry is a key customer. BG is the biggest container glass producer within the ASEAN countries: 3,735 tons of daily capacity, 41 production lines and 13 melting tanks.
But not only the Company’s produced glass plays in the premiere league: BG has its own soccer and volleyball team. And if that wouldn’t be enough, the company uses Leo Stadium in Pathumthani province to be their own home ground.
At the Kabinburi location, approximately 100 km from Bangkok, BG now also produces float glass, founded this year by the BG Float Glass Company Limited (BGF); a truly dynamic start with many projects to follow. Edwin Lang: "We are interested to see the next projects from BGF and look forward to an active exchange in the future."
