Container glass manufacturer Saint-Gobain Oberland is modernising the annealing lehrs at its site in Essen, Germany, with systems developed by supplier Futronic.
The new development is designed to reduce error rates and refit times as well as lower energy consumption by approximately 10%. As part of the project, a control system will replace traditional safety technology in the control station, for which Futronic will engineer the electronics, develop the application software and build the control cabinets.
The controller incorporates a number of technological developments, for example, control unit parameters that allow every type of glass container produced to be stored by the control system.
“This significantly decreases refitting time as well as the error rate due to incorrect input,” says Alexander Körner, Sales Manager for the project at Futronic. In addition, the operating terminal enables the operator to detect, localise and eliminate faults more efficiently.
