The building was designed as an
extension of the Raiffeisen Zentralbank, and had to fit in the
relatively small, oddly shaped space left between the main building and
the surrounding environment. Architect Hans Hollein took the challenge to heart, transforming the
empty space into an opportunity to design a building that adapts
beautifully to its surroundings. The
seven-storey building looks like it is floating above the streets
thanks to its S shape and its appealing blue façade, made with Guardian
SunGuard® Solar Royal Blue 20 coated glass - the predecessor of
SunGuard® High Durable Royal Blue 20. The third and seventh floors
connect Die Welle to the main Raiffeisen Zentralbank building through
two glass bridges. With
its uniform reflected and transmitted colour, SunGuard Solar Royal Blue
20 compliments the unique shape of the building, and its excellent
energy performance contributes to a comfortable atmosphere for the
occupants to work in.
