Brazil’s first Glass Technician Training Course

The second partbner was the Paula Souza Center, a São Paulo State governmental institution that provides technical teaching to 219 Technical Schools and 66 Faculties of Technology (undergraduate level).

The third partner was Abividro, the Brazilian Association of Glass Industries that congregates 15 glass companies.

Mauro Akerman, course leader said: “A team formed by three PSC teachers and myself was created to implement the course. We have together prepared the Syllabus and the definition of the didactic glass lab.

“After that, we defined among all the PSC schools the ones which were adequate to host the course. It should already have chemical and mechanical labs, and be located near glass producers.”

The course takes place over three semesters and combines 1200 hours of theory and practical classes with40 students maximum in theory classes and 20 in practical.

Students may start this specialisation together with the second year of high school or at any time if they have already completed high school.

A glass lab was built on site  with the support of Nadir Figueiredo, the largest Brazilian tableware producer.

The school is located near Nadir Figueiredo, and 20 students are its employees.
