Zhejiang Provincial Glass Industry Association to be founded in Hangzhou

Zhejiang Provincial Glass Industry Association will hold its inaugural meeting on April 28 in Hangzhou. It is the second provincial glass industry association in China after Guangdong Glass Industry Association.

In order to protect the common benefits and further develop the glass industry, more than 30 companies including Zhejiang Glass submitted an application to the related departments of Zhejiang Provincial Government for setting up Zhejiang Provincial Glass Industry Association. The application has been supported and approved by the Economic & Trade Commission of Zhejiang Province and Zhejiang Civil Affairs Bureau.

While the whole glass industry is growing rapidly in Zhejiang province, some problems turn up in some companies, such as the decrease in product quantity, low quality, low tech, unbalanced management level, etc.. Those problems have led to low profitability in the whole competitive industry.

According to preliminary statistics, there are about 150 glass processing plants capable of toughening and 440 glass companies in total in Zhejiang province. Zhejiang ranks top in glass processing capability among East China. As one of the most important provinces in glass and glass processing, Zhejiang is also the biggest glass consuming market in China.

Under the impact of global financial crisis and national adjustment and control policies, “it is necessary to set up glass industry association to promote the healthy and sustained development of Zhejiang glass industry”, said Zhou Hui, the Secretary-General.
