Gerresheimer launches Decoration Centres in Germany and Belgium

Gerresheimer launched two Decoration Centres at its factories in Tettau, Germany, and Momignies, Belgium.

The two Decoration Centres use modern techniques to customise sophisticated branded products for the cosmetics market.

The concept forms the Centre of Excellence building block at both plants and illustrates the same production and process structure.

Bernd Hörauf, CEO of Gerresheimer in Tettau, said: “We want to reduce the complexity for our customers.”

Mr Hörauf considers decoration to be anything that can be offered to customers as added value, including screen-printing, colour spraying, acid etching and pad printing.

This is how he can minimise the total cost of manufacturing a cosmetic product and how the complexity of the processes is reduced for customers throughout the value chain.

Further process steps such as the use of plastic inserts in bottlenecks can now be taken, as well as in the same machine cycle, saving money and reducing outlay.

The development of a labelling line and standard applications such as dynamic carrier strip labelling also enables special cases such as static labelling, for example labelling lying bottles in recessed areas.

This is a measurable process improvement, which would otherwise mean extreme delay on customer filing lines.

Future plans include bonding bottles with a variety of materials, including different applications and applying materials such as metal and wood straight onto glass bottles.

This concept involves a special combination of hotmelt and UV bonding and will be ready for production in the first half of 2019.
