At what point is the full reboot of the former glass Manfredonia, acquired months ago by Sisecam?
Last July 5, there was the inauguration of the new management of the Turkish company leader in the glass sector, in the presence of numerous local authorities including the President of the Puglia Region, Michele Emiliano and the Mayor of Manfredonia Angelo Riccardi.
The speech of the Turkish representatives on the opening day bode well: "Our company is present in 13 countries and is the third largest producer in the world of glass objects for the home, for cars, packaging. Sisecam is proud to own the plants in Manfredonia, the 160 workers are now part of a complex of 22,000 employees. In 3 years our capital has doubled and we can assure the workers of the Manfredonia office that none of our factories has ever been closed ".
The transfer of ownership took place in fact between the satisfaction of the institutions but above all of the workers that Sisecam undertook to assume without leaving anyone out.
Reached by telephone for Statoquotidiano, Alfonso Fiore, provincial secretary UGL chemical-gas-water-glass, explains the current situation of the former glass Manfredonia and its future developments: "We are very satisfied with what we have managed to achieve for this business activity so important for the territory of Capitanata, all employees will be gradually reabsorbed, including those belonging to the satin.
As for the 'oven situation', which represents the focal point of what has happened in the last few years within the company, it will be fully functional from December 2019 ".
What was said by Fiore, and also confirmed by Franco Di Maiella, RSA UGL, is in line with what Dr. Ahmet Kirman, vice president of Sisecam, said on July 5th: "The Sisecam competence for flat glass in Italy will continue to grow with the acquisition of the Manfredonia plant which will return to full operation in 2019. We aim to expand our range of products and become the largest manufacturer of architectural glass in Italy ".
"On September 3, in the Province of Foggia, there was a meeting in which the layoffs for 139 units were opened and which will end on 1 October 2019, the workers will be reintegrated at the same pace to the efficiency of the instruments. Quarterly will then be updated, according to the agreement reached with the parties, concerning the progress of the works for the rebuilding of the oven. To date, Sisecam is developing the situation of the offices ... we will only have to wait for the due timing to put everything back in order, "the words of Vittorio De Padova, City Councilor of Monte Sant'Angelo, a former Sangalli employee.
