Among the exhibits were a massive laminate project and an alluring glass seesaw
At the world’s biggest fair for glass production and glass processing, sedak showcased innovative constructions of glass manufacturing.
sedak’s exhibits during this year’s glasstec dusseldorf were extreme in all respects. First, at the special show “glass technology live” sedak presented the world’s thickest-ever laminate. With 18 layers and a total thickness of approximately 30 centimetres, the 3.6 tonne heavy exhibit was made to inspire architects’ and designers’ imagination and open up new space for creativity. Additionally, the company created a glass seesaw to show what enormous loads glass can carry. The 11-layer laminated all-glass construct with a length of 10 meters and a width of 40 centimetres weights 600 kilograms and holds loads up to 150 kilograms per side. The functional sculpture was created in cooperation with the engineers of Eckersley O’Callaghan and was also part of the “glass technology live” exhibit.
Elsewhere at the convention, sedak displayed a glass fin as part of an all-glass façade at the stand of their partner Benteler. The integration of filigree titanium parts formed a connection between the fins and the glass façades to create an innovative connection system that guarantees maximum transparency.
Together, these exhibits highlight the multi-faceted capabilities of glass in many fields of architectural glass design and off an exciting glimpse at what sedak’s partners will be capable of producing in the coming years.
