UTICA — The live spectacle of molten glass artistry will be at Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute with the Hot Glass Roadshow, direct from The Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG), from Friday, Aug. 2, through Sunday, Aug. 11, on the front lawn of the Museum of Art, 310 Genesee St.

In association with the Museum of Art exhibition, “Louis Comfort Tiffany: Treasures from the Driehaus Collection,” the CMoG’s skilled technicians demonstrate complex hot glassmaking techniques. There will be free live glassmaking demonstrations daily at noon, 1, 2, and 6 p.m. (no noon demonstration on Sundays, on Monday, Aug. 5, the free demo will be at 5 p.m. instead of 6 p.m. and Wednesday, Aug. 7, there will be no evening demo because of a private event).

Premium seating and private demonstrations can be arranged for businesses, groups and community organizations by calling 315-797-0055.

Special Beyond the Bench talks where glassmakers present special tours of Louis Comfort Tiffany: Treasures from the Driehaus Collection, followed by glassblowing demonstrations will take place Aug. 2-3, and Aug. 9-11. Visit mwpai.org for a complete schedule.

Tickets are $5 for MWPAI members and $15 for the general public (includes exhibition admission). Groups are welcome by calling 315-797-0055 for reservations.

The Fire & Ice Party taking place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, will feature glassmaking demonstrations, food, cash bar, entertainment by Fire Magick, and a live auction of decorative glass pieces.

Tickets are $25 for MWPAI members and $30 general admission.

“Louis Comfort Tiffany: Treasures from the Driehaus Collection” on view through Sept. 8, features more than 60 artworks, spanning more than 30 years of the artist’s prolific career and focusing on Tiffany’s brilliant stained-glass windows, iridescent floral vases, shimmering lamps, and accessories highlighting masterworks never before presented in a comprehensive exhibition.
