On its 15th year of continued service to the glass industry in India, Glass Bulletin presented the 4th Glass Bulletin Awards, recognizing talents and contributions in the field of glass manufacturing, processing technology, product enhancement, entrepreneurship and business leadership.
The 4th Glass Bulletin Awards ceremony was organised as a concurrent event alongside glasspro India 2019 on October 11 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon (East), Mumbai. It held special significance this time as Glass Bulletin was celebrating its 15th year in the glass industry.
Stepping into its fourth consecutive year, the event has established itself as a platform for the stakeholders of the glass industry in India to confabulate, cheer and vie for the coveted awards. It is an acknowledgement and recognition of valuable services rendered by all those associated with the enviable growth of the glass industry and its allied fields in the country.
The award ceremony commenced by paying a tribute to the nation with the national anthem and the traditional lamp lighting by Mr. Thomas Schlitt (Managing Director, Messe Dusseldorf India Pvt Ltd), Mr. Lakhan Singh (Editor & Publisher, Glass Bulletin), Mr. L N Jindal (Chief Editor, Glass Bulletin), Mr. Vivek Dubey (MD, Gold Plus Glass Industry Limited), Mr. Subhash Jajoo (MD, Jajoo Architechtural Glass (P) Ltd), Mr. Sudhir Arora (MD, Techno Trade Links) and Mr. Srinivas Sapher (Vice-President of Sales & Marketing, SISECAM Flat Glass India).
Mr Ali Asgar thereafter took the stage to briefly introduce Glass Bulletin Awards and explain its importance to the audience, following which Mr Lakhan Singh introduced and felicitated the jury members.

Glass Bulletin conveyed its deepest gratitude to the members of the jury for dedicating their valuable time to this initiative. Without their wise and learned judgement, GBA would not have been known as a platform that is fair and free from bias.
Mr Asgar congratulated Glass Bulletin for completing 15 successful years in the industry. His words reiterated the efforts put in by GB in the service to the industry and the role played by the magazine in its growth. He also took the opportunity to launch Glass Bulletin’s latest initiative — brochuresonweb.com.
Brochuresonweb.com is a novel initiative launched by Glass Bulletin wherein brochures of several companies, both national and international, will be made available on a single platform for consumers.
Visitors looking for a particular product can visit the website and search for the same using keywords that identify the product and get a host of products listed with the same keyword by different manufacturers.
This was followed by a speech by the platinum sponsor which was presented by Mr Thomas Schlitt, Managing Director of Messe Dusseldorf India.
Red Carpet Tours, which has been organizing group tours for the industry to international exhibitions and events for quite some time now, was called on stage and felicitated. The honour was conveyed to Mr Gurpreet Singh Johar of Red Carpet for his initiatives that provide much needed exposure to the industry and helps in its development and growth.
Thereafter, the organisers conveyed their thanks to the sponsors of the event. Mr Lakhan Singh felicitated the event’s Platinum Sponsor Messe Dusselfdorf India (Mr Anand Nair) and co-sponsors RCMPA (Mrs. Pallavi Gill), KK Glass (MR. Vitrag Jeevavat), Techno Trade Links (Mr. Sanchit Arora), Bhandari Glass Company (Mr. Rakesh Bhandari) and HANJIAG (Ms. Ashley Quan).
The first award to be given out was the Service & Contribution Award, presented to late Sri. R. Subramanian, former MD of St Gobain. A brief video documenting his achievements and contributions to the glass industry was played on the big screen. It was a unanimous decision to dedicate the award to Mr Subramanian.
The next award to be presented was the Green Initiative Award. It was conferred on Mr. Ashok Dholakia and Purvi Shah, Gopal Glass Works Ltd. This category was instituted to honor energy-saving initiatives adopted by processing companies. Going Green is vital for our environment. With this award, the organizers aim to encourage those that have pledged their resources to save the environment for a better tomorrow.
The Indigenous Machine Developer Award was presented to joint winners Mr. Balvindar Singh Bhambra, Bhambra International, and Mr. Sanjay Wadhawan, Murthal Tanks and Vessels. This award recognizes efforts of those who have worked tirelessly to make top-notch glass processing machines in India.
The Jury’s Choice Award was given to Mr. Firoz Hussain Kanchwala of Safe Glass Store. This award category highlights hidden talents or emerging companies that have been working tirelessly for the benefit of the industry.
Mr Kanchwala is an individual who has several decades of expertise in providing complete solutions for glass and has been a pioneer in his field. He has constantly strived to improvise and bring new designs with an eye on the future. Known as a master in his trade, he continues to innovate and bring the best to the customers. His eye for detail and impeccable standards of quality has pushed him into the league of elite designers in the country. His vision for a green future makes him constantly come up with sustainable solutions in glass. He has worked with the best in the business and with some of the leading companies in the country.

With the award distribution coming to an end, the Glass Bulletin team was called upon the stage and welcomed with a big round of applause. This was followed by a Vote of Thanks by Mr Lakhan Singh. Mr Singh took the opportunity to thank all VVIP dignitaries, guests, jury members, event partner and sponsors. He made a special mention of Messe Dusseldorf.
Mr Singh extended an invitation to the entire audience for the next edition of glasspro and Glass Bulletin Awards, slated for September-October 2020. With this, the guests were escorted to the dining area for cocktails and dinner, marking an end to a glorious evening dedicated to the glass industry in India.
