This is the piece that inspired the first Online Auction to Benefit ANC’s Carr Fire Scholarship Fund. (Click here to read how it all started.)
Donated by aNewsCafe.com’s own Deborah Segelitz, she commissioned Paul Jones, world-famous Welsh glass artist, of Phoenix Glass, to create the first piece for ANC’s first Carr Fire Scholarship benefit.
Last year’s winner of the Phoenix passed it to Matt Grigsby to hold in trust until this year, when it could be auctioned again. Note: This is not to be confused with this year’s felted Carr Fire Phoenix.
This Carr Fire Phoenix measures 3 inches by 3 inches, a stunning diminutive piece that springs to life from the ashes in bright red, yellow and orange.
The Carr Fire Phoenix is already a world-traveler; created in Wales, sent to Scotland, and then mailed to Redding, Calif, especially for this auction.
Thank you, Deb, for this generous and heart-felt contribution donation all the way from Scotland.
Thank you, Paul, for creating such a perfect phoenix piece from your Phoenix Glass studio in Wales.
Starting bid $75.00.
Auction bidding will begin Mon. Jan. 6, and will conclude Thur. Jan. 9.
Deb Segelitz was born and raised in Pennsylvania, and is astounded to find herself living in the Scottish Highlands, sharing life with her husband, a Highlander she stumbled across purely by chance on a blog site. They own a small business restoring and selling vintage fountain pens, which allows Deb to set her own schedule and have time for photography, writing and spontaneous car rides in the countryside. She is grateful to the readers of ANC for accepting her into the North State fold.
