Vidrala’s Crisnova glass plant in the town of Caudete, Albacete, Spain, was officially presented with the accolade at an event attended by representatives of the City Council of Caudete and the Junta de Castilla La Mancha.

After speeches by Moisés López, Mayor of Caudete, Llanos Valero Hernández, Provincial Delegate of Sustainable Development in Albacete and Carlos Delclaux, Chairman of Vidrala, the event concluded with the symbolic act of planting a tree representing the project featured.

The event publicly witnessed the Collaboration Agreement stipulating that Vidrala will carry out the planting of 1,338 trees (334 elms and 1,004 almeces, native species of the area) on plots of 8.36 hectares owned by the City Council of Caudete and classified as a green area.

Vidrala, through its Crisnova plant, now assumes the care and maintenance of the space for the next 30 years. Total absorption is expected at about 1,045 tons of CO2 after the end of the period.

In a second phase of this project, another area of land about 5 hectares will be reforested, resulting in Vidrala becoming the glassmaker with more hectares (13.36 hectares)in Spain allocated for CO2 absorption projects.

In addition, the calculation of the carbon footprint made based on the international standard ISO 14.064, has been registered with the Ministry of Ecological Transition and consequently the Crisnova plant has been certified with the national seal as a company committed to reducing its carbon footprint.
