Glas Trösch Group
Glas Trösch Group provided triple insulating glass with laminated safety glass for both the inner and outer circles. The Vortex student building is located in Chavannes-près-Renens in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland. Around 1,000 students and academic guests have taken up residence in this unique location since early July 2020. The Vortex was one of the key venues for the 2020 Olympic Youth Games in Lausanne as it served as the Olympic Village for 1,800 athletes and their teams. Inside the crown-shaped construction, the apartments can be accessed via a 2.8 km-long spiral ramp. The building has a diameter of 137 m and reaches a height of 27 m with its eight spiral levels. The floor-length glass panels provide protection against breakage and falling. We provided triple insulating glass with laminated safety glass for both the inner and outer circles. With a Ug value of 0.6 W/m2K, a high daylight incidence of 72% and a good g value of 49%, the SILVERSTAR EN2plus thermal insulation layer makes living in the apartments a very pleasant experience.
