Taiwan small- to medium-size LCD panel maker Wintek has resumed its second 3G line due to new LCD panel orders, with production slated for the third quarter, according to the company.
Wintek indicated that they company resumed the 3G line as the overall market and orders have started to recover, as well as the traditional peak season being in the second half of the year. Wintek has two 3G lines with total monthly capacity of 110,000 glass substrates.
The company suspended one of its two 3G lines due to a lack of orders back in January.
Wintek is evaluating the possibility to purchase 5G glass substrate to fill up the gap from tight glass supply. However, with Wintek concentrating on customized products, using 5G glass substrates may require the company having to go through validation with clients again, and the company has yet to decide on the possibility to purchase 5G glass, the company noted.
In addition, Wintek has developed medium-size capacitive touch panels for portable devices under 10-inches. Market estimates indicate Wintek will launch 10-inch capacitive touch panels in the fourth quarter, while the company declined to comment.
