There’s more to glasstec than just glass, machinery and equipment. glasstec is also the place where companies choose to unveil their newest developments in components and supplies used in the glass fabrication process.
As such, several companies have taken the time at glasstech 2022 in Düsseldorf, Germany, to unveil new products and services, including adhesives, spacers and more.
Carbon Awareness
Sustainability is an important discussion point throughout the industry, and the move toward carbon neutrality and net zero is evident for many exhibitors.
Dow, for example, is showcasing its new carbon-neutral silicones for building facades. The company’s silicones are verified by the PAS 2060 standard for carbon neutrality by the British Standards Institute. Dow also has Life Cycle Assessments and Environmental Product Declarations for 15 of its products.
According to Jean-Paul Hautekeer, global strategic market director for high-performance building, this show marks the global launch of the service, which is intended to be project specific.
IG Solutions
Companies at glasstec are also highlighting insulating glass materials. HB Fuller is featuring its Ködispace 4SG reactive thermoplastic spacer. Michael Speicher, HB Fuller’s marketing manager, said that they’re witnessing great interest in their warm edge technology, as machinery suppliers, Forel, Glaston and Lisec, have been running the product on their lines.
Technoform is featuring a virtual reality display that allows users to get a closer look at its products, as well as how they can be used. The company is also launching new spacer products in Europe, which may soon also be available in the U.S.
Helen Sanders, general manager of Technoform Glass Insulation North America, said the show provides the opportunity to showcase what you can do with spacers and new application possibilities, including custom solutions.
Large, Curved Glass
North Glass has been growing steadily in the U.S. since 2017. The company fabricates a wide range of large, curved glass for architectural projects around the world. The company took the time at glasstec 2022 to showcase some of those possibilities at its stand. Bob Zhang, sales director for North America, said they’ve been able to talk to visitors about how to incorporate glass neon in projects, which are becoming increasingly complex.
