Plant managers from glass fabrication companies collaborate to identify common challenges Last week at GlassBuild America, the National Glass Association (NGA) hosted GlassFab, an educational pilot program for glass fabrication plant managers. The pilot program was held to provide NGA with insights into the unique needs of glass fabrication companies to help expand its education and training offerings. Plant managers from glass fabrication companies of varying sizes and locations were invited to hear from industry speakers—Michael Schmidt, industry consultant; Jon Griggs, field service engineering manager, Guardian Glass; Tim Kelley, president & owner, Tristar Glass, Inc.; and Miguel Juliao, president, Interglass Corp.—and participate in roundtable activities and discussions. During the half-day program, participants shared challenges and best practices for documenting processes, implementing effective maintenance programs, and maximizing efficiency in their lines and operations. “The goals here are to learn from each other, leave with action items you can take back to your facilities, and to identify your unique needs,” said NGA President & CEO Nicole Harris when welcoming participants. “We look forward to continuing to work with you to develop education and training resources for you and your coworkers.”
