Two furnace suppliers will speak a glass production-focused conference.

The Sorg group and Fives will both provide papers at the Glassman Europe conference which takes place in Istanbul, Turkey in February.

They will be joined by French digital manufacturing company Vertech, which will discuss how Industry 4.0 can bring production efficiencies at a glass facility.

Sorg and its sister company EME will discuss ‘The Power of 3 – SORG GROUP – a Single Source for the Hot End.

Speakers Dr. Sebastian Woltz, Sales Director at EME and Matthias Haas, Associate Sales Director and Key Accounts at Nikolaus Sorg, will discuss the Sorg Group of companies: EME, Nikolaus Sorg and SKS combine technologies in batch house and furnace design and engineering which also includes service installation for steel and refractories.

This enables glassmakers to source their unique solution for the complete hot end processes from batch and cullet handling to melting technologies and furnace design, to furnace construction and complete lifecycle services from a single source.

French-based Furnace technology company Fives will discuss ‘All-electric melting technologies on the road of decarbonization nation of European glassmakers.’

Presenters Andrew Reynolds, Business Development Director, Fives Stein and Alexandre Brusset, Director – Glass, Fives , will discuss how all-electric furnaces currently offer the only viable means to eliminate carbon emissions produced from heating by combustion.

Fives believes all-electric melting will play an important part in glass making in the future and will sit alongside other technologies such as hybrid furnaces utilising biofuel or H2 combustion.

Last week Turkish glass packagers GCA and Basturk Cam said they will provide presentations at the event.

Also confirmed as a speaker at the February 8-9 conference is Vertech.

Its CEO, Ulas Topal will highlight how digitalisation and data are key to the success of the glass industry.

The digitalisation of manufacturing allows a faster exchange of information and data between all plant sectors, making production requirements efficient, increasing performance, allowing better reactivity and production quality.
