Vishakha inaugurates Indian solar glass plant

Vishakha has inaugurated its solar glass manufacturing plant in Mundra, Gujarat, India.

The plant contains a 660 tpd solar glass furnace, which the manufacturer says is the largest solar glass furnace in India.

The facility will have a phase-1 capacity of 4GW.

Other features include:

  • Casted floor area of 1 million ft2.

  • 90 m prefabricated chimney height.

  • Overhead water tank of 500,000 litres at a height of 45 m.

  • Erected silo with a cumulated capacity of 1420 tons at 40 m.

The construction was completed with 6.21 million safe man-hours, with over 500 people working on the project.

Asahi India Glass Limited (AIS) also partnered with the Vishakha Group to help set up the plant.

On the plant’s launch, Vishakha said via its LinkedIn page: “The inauguration of this groundbreaking plant with capacity of 4GW in first phase marks a significant milestone in India's solar revolution, propelling us into a future where clean and renewable energy takes centre stage. This is our ode to a greener, brighter tomorrow.”
