“Unbreakable glass” obtained the Swiss certification

ATG is China's sole producer of nanocrystalline glass, also known as Kunlun Glass. This unique material has gained high demand and was recently recognized as a “Little Giant” enterprise in the field of specialized new technology by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Over the past decade, ATG has poured nearly 1 billion yuan (about 137 million U.S. dollars) into research and development efforts, creating this specialized glass that finds applications in high-end smartphones, aviation, high-speed rail, and automotive central control system.

“Innovation is what we must do and also a difficult thing,” said Bai Yibo, Board Chairman of ATG. The journey to achieving this feat was arduous and required significant investment.

Kunlun Glass, the nanocrystalline glass containing billions of nanocrystals, acts like reinforcing steel in concrete, providing remarkable strength and durability. This unique attribute has earned ATG’s product the nickname “unbreakable glass,” particularly notable in its application on premium Huawei smartphones.

ATG’s dedication to innovation has not only revolutionized the domestic electronics industry but has also shattered international barriers. The company’s nanocrystalline glass obtained the Swiss SGS five-star glass drop resistance certification, a testament to its resilience against impacts.

One of the key drivers behind ATG’s success is its commitment to nurturing talent. The company’s research center boasts a team of over 70 members led by Professor Jiang Hong, the Chief Scientist. As of July, ATG has applied for over 300 patents, including invention patents, utility model patents, and trademarks.

Currently, ATG has closer cooperation with Huawei. Both sides will establish a glass joint laboratory, dedicated to exploring new products in new fields.

In the future, Bai envisions constructing an electronic cover glass industrial cluster. Chongqing’s Liangjiang New Area is capable of the requirements, where the area aims to achieve 100 billion yuan (about 13.7 billion U.S. dollars) by the end of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025).

Bai said that the company will remain committed to pioneering original and leading-edge technologies, contributing to China’s position as a global manufacturing leader, and fostering advancements that benefit both the nation and the world.
