Cornwall Glass & Glazing has bought the assets of Seleda Ltd out of administration, saving more than 20 jobs at the Saltash-based glass manufacturer in the process.
Cornwall Glass moved quickly to agree a deal with administrators Begbies Traynor, after Seleda entered administration on July 17.
A new company has been formed – Westcountry Glass – which will continue to manufacture high-quality sealed glass units to window and joinery companies throughout the south west from its Saltash base.
Mark Mitchell, managing director of Cornwall Glass & Glazing, said: “We are delighted to have secured the future of this business and more importantly for the loyal, hardworking and skilled work force that faced a very uncertain future.
“Westcountry Glass will continue to offer high quality products and a first class service to its customer base and we will expand the products range available to them in the near future.”
Gilbert Lemon from the Plymouth office of business rescue, recovery, and restructuring specialists Begbies Traynor commented: “We are delighted that this swift action has secured the jobs of more than 20 employees. We wish Westcountry Glass the best of luck for the future.”
St Austell-based Cornwall Glass & Glazing Ltd is a family owned company that operates 13 other sites in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Wilshire. The company now employs over 130 staff and has recently won awards for its commitment to staff training and development.
