Glass manufacturers in the USA have been invited to a workshop devoted to decarbonising the industry, organised by the US Department of Energy.
The goal of the workshop is to bring together stakeholders to identify key challenges, priorities, and opportunities for the decarbonisation of the glass manufacturing sector.
It will held at the Hyatt Pittsburgh International Airport hotel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA on May 16 and 17.
Those invited to attend include glass manufacturers, equipment manufacturers and raw material providers, as well as other stakeholders in the industry.
Emphasis will be placed on technical challenges, as well as applied research, development, and demonstration (RD&D) opportunities.
During the workshop, Industrial Efficiency & Decarbonisation Office (IEDO) leadership will provide an overview of the office.
They will also share the strategy and available resources to support innovations, to improve energy efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint across US manufacturing operations.
Through facilitated discussion, participants will help inform the IEDO’s priorities and future plans in supporting decarbonisation of the glass manufacturing sector.
Example topics of discussion include: electrification, alternative fuels, energy efficiency, alternative glass formulations, and glass circularity/recycling.
