NSG Group will stop production at one of its two float glass lines in Gladbeck, Germany, beginning January 2025.
Company officials say the decision “is a direct consequence of a review of the current and medium-term weak demand situation in the German and wider European glass markets, and adds to the previous announcement, made in March, notifying the early closure of one of the Group’s float lines in Weiherhammer, Germany.
According to a release, the closure will impact more than 100 employees at the Gladbeck site. Approximately 520 employees are employed in Gladbeck. NSG expects to record an exceptional cost of around $11 million for the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2025.
