Borosil Ltd., India’s leading glassware brand, has taken a significant leap toward self-reliance by inaugurating a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Jaipur, Rajasthan. This new facility houses the country’s first-ever Borosilicate Glass Furnace, marking a major milestone in the company’s mission to cater to the evolving needs of Indian consumers and support the government's vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
The Jaipur plant is equipped to produce various Borosilicate and Opal glass products, including tableware, bakeware, storage solutions, and serving items. It has an impressive annual capacity of 9,125 metric tons of borosilicate glass and 30,660 metric tons of opal glass. These products are not only stronger and more break-resistant but also crafted with the diverse needs of Indian consumers in mind.
"Our Jaipur facility marks a significant leap toward self-reliance in the glassware industry," said Mr. Shreevar Kheruka, Managing Director of Borosil Ltd. "It enables us to manufacture high-quality products that are both resilient and tailored to the needs of Indian households."
Borosil’s new facility goes beyond production by contributing to the socio-economic development of the region. The plant provides direct and indirect employment to over 2,000 individuals, with a strong focus on inclusion. Notably, more than 25% of the workforce comprises women from nearby villages, creating a secure and empowering environment for them. Borosil’s commitment to fostering an inclusive work culture ensures that these women can contribute meaningfully to their families and communities.
"This factory strengthens our position as a force multiplier for Indian women, providing them with meaningful employment opportunities," Mr. Kheruka added.
In line with Borosil’s long-term sustainability goals, the Jaipur facility is designed to minimize environmental impact. The plant integrates green energy solutions, including a 1 MWp rooftop solar installation and two solar parks in Gajner, Bikaner, generating a total of 15.8 MWp of solar power. This eco-conscious approach complements the company’s focus on offering 100% recyclable glass products, further reducing its environmental footprint.
