Solutions for a sustainable future were discussed at the recent Verre en Perspective (Glass in Perspective) conference.
The event focused on the past and future of glass, examining the history of the industry as well as solutions for a sustainable future.
Presentations included AGC Glass Europe and Saint-Gobain from flat glass, as well as Verallia and the European Container Glass Federation (FEVE) from the glass packaging sector.
Speakers also participated in round table discussions (see above).
Conference moderator Jean Hardy said: “The conference was successful, and there was a friendly atmosphere.
“All those involved were able to participate, despite the start of a snowstorm Friday morning.”
The event aimed to create a dialogue between historians, industrials, anthropologists and artists, as well as encouraging the sharing of knowledge and innovative projects.
Over 40 delegates attended the conference at the historical Trélon glassworks, northern France, on November 21 and 22.
Attendees praised the conference for its organisation and the quality of the presentations, as well as the location.
The Trélon glass site, nestled in the Avesnois region in the north of France, celebrated its 200th anniversary this year.
The glassworks closed in 1977, but was reborn in 1981 as a glass museum within the Ecomusée de l’Avesnois.
