Exhibitors at the Glassman Asia trade show in Bangkok, Thailand said they had a good event.
Visitors to the glass manufacturing-focused trade show came from the domestic industry as well as from the region.
As well as established Thailand-headquartered glass packaging companies such as Bangkok Glass, Thai Glass Industries, Siam Glass and Asia Pacific Glass, it included companies from neighbouring countries such as Vietnam, Myanmar and the Philippines.
Chaanchai Kunwarawate, Managing Director, of exhibitor Infineon Plus from Bangkok, said: “As a first-time exhibitor we feel blessed. The second day we have had all the big players from the Thai glass industry as well as from surrounding countries.”
His view was echoed by Klaus Wolff, of PGM Partners, also based in Bangkok: “On the first day it was a public holiday so a little quiet but we still had very good and intensive meetings, which is maybe not possible when it is crowded and you have people waiting.
"We had all the customers from Thailand from a variety of departments, from purchasing, technical and development staff, staff working on machine and the from workshop.
“We also had glassmakers from Vietnam, Myanmar, and India so we are happy with the show.”
Gregory Lecat, of Heye International said: “It’s been a very good show. We were able to see all our customers, we saw the decision makers as well as people from the plant.
“There are a lot of plants in Thai and we don’t always have the opportunity to see all the people but they came to the exhibition so we could review the operation of our machines, discuss new projects and opportunities with them.
“We had very different discussions depending on the glass plant and their different needs. The market is currently a little challenging but there are opportunities for growth and I am confident it is slowly recovering.”
Lina Lai, Deputy Head Overseas marketing and Sales department, of Hubei Chuda Intelligent Equipment, said: “Today was crowded and we have met a lot of old friends as well met some fresh faces so I am excited.
It was a busy morning and it was good to be chatting with customers. The market has a lot of potential with some new investments, so I hope the market will start again soon.”
Steven Sun, General Manager of Guangzhou Suibo Sorting Technology was another first-time exhibitor. He was highlighting the company’s cullet sorting technology which had received a good response from visitors.
“It has been a fantastic event. We met customers from different countries, mainly Thailand but also from Taiwan, the Philippines and Vietnam, it has exceeded my expectations. It is a small fair but the visitors for us have been good.”
Bowen Sha, Business Development at Shanghai Precision, said: “Today we had several visitors from local companies and had fruitful discussions about new projects and we look forward to working with them in the near future.
“We highlighted our batch house energy savings and the diverse products we offer to customers. There was a lot of talk about decarbonisation and ‘smarter plants’ which use less manpower, so we spoke to customers about that.
“A lot of customers are planning ahead, with projects planned for 2026 and 2027 so we are working with them to form a nice plan.”
Other glass companies among the 816 visitors included L. Lighting Glass, Wellgrow Glass, Ocean Glass, Bangkok Crystal and Guardian Glass and AGC Flat Glass of Thailand.
Overseas visitors included San Miguel Yamamura and Anglo Watsons Glass of the Philippines, Myanmar Golden Eagle of Myanmar, O-I/BJC of Vietnam, Gizaz Glass Container Company of Qatar and Hwahsia Glass of Taiwan.
