Post Time:Feb 27,2025Classify:Industry NewsView:986

Oceania Glass - the only local glass manufacturer in Australia - is set to officially close its Dandenong-based factory after entering administration earlier this month.

One of the administrators of Oceania Glass from Grant Thornton Matt Byrnes joined Ali Moore to explain why they have have been unable to find a buyer and how many workers are set to be impacted.

CEO of South East Melbourne Manufacturers Alliance Honi Walker also joined the program, saying she is "gobsmacked" and it's "not fair" for local manufacturing to be suffering.

Press play to hear both interviews on 774 ABC Radio Melbourne Drive.

Oceania Glass can track its roots back as far as 1856 when its first glass was sold. The company was spun out of glass manufacturer Viridian in 2019 after it was acquired from building materials group CSR by Crescent Capital Partners for $155 million.
