The Kosciusko County Solid Waste Management District decided to suspend collecting glass as of Oct. 1.
In a report given to the board at their Tuesday afternoon meeting, Jim Stafford from Stafford Solid Waste explained the problem.
Stafford Solid Waste has been hauling recycling goods for the county.
The cost to haul glass has gone up and environmental and contamination concerns factor in with glass.
As a result, the board decided to suspend taking glass from county residents starting Oct. 1 until they can find someone to take the glass.
Sue Studebaker, the recycling depot's director, said by starting that Oct. 1 it will give her time to get the word out to residents and educate them
The board also reviewed and approved the budget for 2010.
The board also approved the minutes from last month along with this month's claims.
Studebaker gave an update about recycling bins being moved in Claypool along with a sign.
She said the new recycling area looked good and the town of Claypool was pleased with it.
