The Corning Museum of Glass is trying to make the world's largest glass pumpkin. A team of a dozen glass blowers have already made about twenty attempts, some ended with shattered orange glass pieces all over the floor, but yesterday they did complete one. By the end of this week they will have created a bunch of huge pumpkins to choose from to be the corner stone of the museum's glass harvest theme this fall. The team started planning for this project in June, they built a custom pumpkin mold and a large oven specifically for this project. Museum staff couldn't get the Guinness Book of World Records to verify the pumpkin - but after extensive research, they're confident their glass pumpkin will be the worlds biggest.
